Beginning beekeeping course March 8-9, 2025

Are you interested in keeping honey bees? Have you said to yourself “I’d like to produce my own honey but don’t know how?”
Well, in the Kootenays you can learn this craft from two very experienced beekeepers who are also certified instructors with the British Columbia Honey Producers Association.
We use a standardized and approved curriculum specifically designed for beekeepers who live in B.C.
This isn’t a “University of Google” experience. You won’t be taught by novice or part-timers who are not current on all of the issues and opportunities in B.C.
You will be taught by two master beekeepers, Jeff Lee and Amanda Goodman Lee, who run a successful small-footprint honey company in Creston, B.C.
Jeff is heavily invested in Canadian beekeeping issues. He is the BC director for the Canadian Honey Council and a member of the executive of the B.C. Honey Producers Association.
Amanda is equally invested in the Creston Valley Food Action Coalition. It runs the Creston Farmers’ Market. As such she is versed in all the issues of bee health, honey production and taking your food to market.
We also don’t take your money and run; we continue to mentor our previous students!
Beekeeping is fun, relatively easy, and very rewarding.
We structured our course to give you a complete understanding of what it takes to keep bees. You will be ready to start keeping your own colonies this spring.
The course is divided into two parts: a weekend of in-class instruction on March 8-9, 2025 at our operations in Creston, and an intensive hands-on field day in May when the weather is conducive to examining and manipulating colonies.
