Description
Our Kootenay Wildflower honey is a pure, raw unpasteurized honey, bottled under our Swan Valley Honey brand. We produce it right in the beautiful Creston Valley. This honey is lovingly produced from healthy bees using holistic beekeeping. Our bees collect nectar from alfalfa, snowberry, clover, sweet clover, vetch and more. Whatever nectar and pollen-bearing plants are in bloom between May and August will be visited by our bees.
We practice holistic beekeeping and treat our bees with great care. We don’t pasteurize or heat our honey above nest temperature during extraction or bottling. That way we protect the incredible purity, flavour and rawness of our wonderful product.
Our Kootenay wildflower honey can change in colour and flavour seasonally, depending on weather and what’s in bloom. We neither blend honeys to make a unified product nor use pasteurization. If it says “Kootenay Wildflower” honey on the label, that means it’s right from our apiaries in the valley. This is what makes our honey so special: it is never really the same from one season to the next, and the flavours can subtly change. Even so, there is a stability and regularity to the honey our bees produce. Year over year we are rewarded with both a fine natural food and loyalty from customers who tell us this is perhaps the best honey they’ve tasted.
We rigorously protect the purity of our honey; we regularly send samples in for fingerprinting by honey authentication programs. We want our customers to be assured that this is a pure Canadian honey produced here right from the Creston Valley.
Our pathway to succes as beekeepers is to always remember it is our bees who are our most important employees. In other words, taking care of our bees comes first. That’s the Honey Bee Zen way.
